The "PURGE" is when you decide it's time to throw out anything blocking the vision or overload of the un-necessary.
How many of us our guilty of the "CATCH ALL CHAIR"????? You know- the poor chair that's gets all the stuff you throw off when you come home or the outfits that you didn't agree with that day!!
There are several different types of shoppers out there:
- Compulsive shoppers – shop to distract feelings; “when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping”
- Trophy shoppers – find the perfect accessory for outfits, etc. High class items will do.
- Image shoppers – pick up tab, expensive cars, highly visible stuff
- Bargain shoppers – buy stuff they don’t need just because it is a good deal. Out for the hunt.
- Codependent shoppers – to gain love and approval
- Bulimic Shoppers—buy and return, buy and return (similar to actual bulimia)
- Collector Shoppers—have to have complete or many sets of objects or different colors of same style of clothing
Now that you have been schooled on the different types of shoppers....let me introduce to you my "CLIENT".
She is a combination of the "Codependent shopper" & the "Compulsive shopper". She has great taste for beautiful things....so she buys all of them! She has ran out of room to store all the beautiful things she has purchased and now has a huge amount of clutter.
All this leading up to this situation !!!
When it is time to get dressed she can not see anything she has purchased through all the clutter so she begins to get anxiety on what to wear...feels as if she has nothing to wear, so she is forced to go out and by more.
We decided it was finally time for her to "PURGE".
Steps to PURGING:
1. Go through every single item you own and if you have not worn it in at least 1 year....its time to go.
2. Holding on to those pieces that use to fit you or may fit you in the future...another waist of space.
3. Make piles....
- what you like
- what fits
- what still has the tags on it
- giveaway
4. Then we begin going back through the closet and organizing it with what is what.
- pants
- jeans
- workout clothes
- sleeve less
- long sleeve
- winter
- summer
- dressy
- formal
- casual
6. Go through your shoes next.
- winter
- summer
- broken
- giveaway
7. Put the shoes that our out of season out of the way, so you are not tempted to wear.
8. Now that we have everything organized we can begin assessing outfits that fit "MY CLIENT'S" style.
Stay tuned in to see the different outfits we came up with to fit "MY CLIENT'S" everyday life style as a MOM & MARKETING GURU!
